Matt followed his 2004 season with first team All Conference, GPAC in 2005. As first team all conference, Matt had a .435% batting average and stole 34 bases in 35 attempts while playing 38 games.
Matt served as the Assistant Baseball Coach for the Doane Tigers 2006-2007. In addition to being the 3rd base coach, Matt worked with the outfielders as well as organizing and setting up practices.
Currently, Matt is a manager and player in the Lincoln Adult Baseball League. He was named the 2007 LABL Manager of the Year and was recognized as the 2007 LABL American League Offensive Player of the Year.
Coach Johnson was Matt’s baseball coach when Matt played for JC Brager in his senior year at Lincoln Southeast.
Coach Johnson describes Matt as an individual who gives 100% effort all the time. Matt emphasizes being focused, helping your teammates achieve their goals and being a team player pays big dividends both as an individual and a team.
Matt’s achievements are testimonials to his dedication to hard work and effort. His experience in playing on a college level as well as coaching will be a valuable asset to the Spikes team.
